Sopranos Swansong

Posted by Steve @ 8:35 pmTags: ,

There's not much on TV that really draws my interest.  There are shows out there that I like, such as Two And A Half Men, that I will watch if I happen across them, or I will cue up on my PVR and watch in batch mode; but the only show in the last ten years that has caught my faithful viewing was The Sopranos.

img_ep86_03.jpgIn about a half hour, the series finale begins.  I am sitting here waiting and wondering how it will end.  In the past weeks there has been a slow, steady escalation in activity and tension on the show with several long-running, key characters biting the big one.  Last week's episode saw the closing credits ushered in with Tony lying in bed hugging an automatic rifle.

Time to get the refreshments ready, munchies cued up, disk space cleared on the PVR, and cuddle up on the couch to enjoy the bloodbath.

Whether you die tonight or not, Tony Soprano, I'm gonna miss you.  After tonight, there's nothing worth watching on TV (except Maury Povich's DNA Tests…  I mean, who doesn't want to know if Dashawn is the real father of Dalisha's baby, Shawnisha?).

I guess I'm gonna have to get a life or something…

He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands

Posted by Steve @ 5:19 pmTags: ,

He’s got the whole wide world in his hands. He’s got you and me brother, in his hands. He’s got the whole world in his hands.

Stats LinkI subscribe to a tracking service that gives me information regarding the last 100 hits to my site. You can check it out anytime by clicking on the word “visitors” at the bottom of my sidebar. This is the most interesting “hit” page I’ve seen for my blog to date. I’ve seen hits come from many places in the world, but his particular image has the most varied of any single time I’ve seen it. There’s hits from Iqaluit, Canada to Sydney, Australia.

Greatest Hits!

To date, I’ve seen hits on my site from (in order of quantity)

Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Turkey, Norway, Ireland, United Arab Emirates, Barbados, Netherlands, Portugal, Latvia, Switzerland, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Spain, Israel, Mexico, Benin, Sweden, France, Philippines, Iran, Greece, and Belgium.

Back Hand English

Posted by Steve @ 12:50 amTags: , ,

I learned something new last evening. A friend of mine, Paul, emails me the occasional billiards instructional video. I’m not sure what he’s really trying to say, but I watch them anyway. While cruising around the interweb for similar videos, I came across a video on back hand english. It’s 28 minutes long, but worth the view, if you are interested in some less commonly known techniques in billiards.

This link from Bob Jewett is a very good narrative describing in a page what the video does in a half hour. He has a bunch of other instructional narratives here.

It has varying degrees of success with different individuals using different brands of cue stick. This debate illustrates the conflicting views on its usefullness, application and physical theory.

I tried the back hand english technique (or squirt compensation) at Paul’s house tonight. It’s apparent that this technique needs practise to perfect (proven by the fact that he kicked my ass), but the dramatic effects it has was also pretty obvious.

How much is my blog worth - revisited

Posted by Steve @ 10:49 pmTags: ,

Psst… Wanna buy a blog?

Back in October, I posted a link to a Technorati utility that would tell you how much your blog was worth. To whom, I don’t know. But it didn’t matter much back then… cuz it was worth nothing, nuttin’, nada, zilch, squat. But now (heh heh) my blog is worth 11 grand!!

Cleaning up the dust bunnies

Posted by Steve @ 12:40 amTags: , ,

I shared my blog URL with my family members back in Newfoundland and suddenly doubled my fan-base.

Now 4 people are aware of my cyber-citizenship. yahoo5

They told me they read all of my previous posts and enjoyed it all. That got me thinking… since I migrated all my old posts from my old Blogger site I didn’t check to see if all the formatting and layout was ok with all my past posts. I checked it out… WHAT A MESS!!!

I spent this evening cleaning up the formatting and layout of my blog. Oh, the pressures of popularity!!

These are excellent sources for billiards advice. These are a couple of the few sites I have been able to find that does not actually exist for the sole purpose of selling you something.
