NL Blogger’s Choice Awards

Jan 04 2010

nlblogrolltittleThe administrators of the Newfoundland and Labrador Blog Roll have decided to implement a Blogger’s Choice Award. Any blog chosen by the site as the Blog of the Month is automatically nominated for this prestigious honour. Since my humble corner of the interwebs was once the Blog of the Month, I’m one of the nominees… (See my superior deductive reasoning skills at work?) icon_wink

So… please, PLEASE hurry over there and vote for me. There are two ways to vote. You can leave a comment at the site (counts as two votes), or you can respond to the poll in the far right column of the site. What the heck, why don’t you do both?

Googled On GoogleMaps!

Dec 04 2009

A couple of months ago I posted that I noticed a GoogleMaps car recording the area of Newfoundland that I was vacationing in. Well I noticed a CBC.ca news article today reporting that the pictures from that area were published.

In their words:

Street View is an online application that provides a 360-degree ground-level view of cities, compiled from photos taken by Google. The company has been collecting images of Canadian cities since 2007, with the help of vehicles that drive through neighbourhoods with cameras mounted on them.

I checked out the area on GoogleMaps and sure enough, I found myself on there, out in the driveway rifling through the back of my truck. I created a little slideshow of what I found for your amusement.

For those of you reading this in Facebook, check out this link to my site to see the pics.

Kevin Scores A Hat-Trick

Nov 06 2009

Again, my buddy Kevin is the source of inspiration for a blog posting on Oh Me Nerves! For the third consecutive post I’ll be dropping his name in relation to something I find interesting enough to put out there for public consumption.

First, he was giving me shit for posting a post that wasn’t a post.

Second, he scored one big time with a free ticket to see Australian Pink Floyd.

Finally, he deaked the goalie out of his shorts to round out the hat-trick finale with a set of customized license plates in honour of my humble website.

Oh Me License Plates!

Thanks Kevin!!!

Is There Anybody Out There?

Nov 04 2009

I lucked into a free ticket to go see the Austrailian Pink Floyd concert in Moncton this past Monday night. Our friends Kevin and Christine from Charlottetown had planned to attend but for some reason Christine couldn’t go. Kevin, being desperate for friends, had almost no choice but to ask me if I’d like to go.

Like my Cirque du Soleil experience, I had heard the show was good but I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. What the heck… the worst I could do is get my money’s worth. Well! Was I in for another treat! The show was awesome, the music was impeccably reproduced, and the crowd was thoroughly into it.

I managed to take a couple of vids with my iPhone. The light and sound in the building kind of overwhelmed the recording equipment in the iPhone, but you will get the feel of the concert by watching anyway.

Here’s the encore:

Check out other vids of the show on my Youtube Channel.

Thanks again Kevin, for inviting me along with you.

Marge Simpson, Playboy Playmate

Oct 09 2009

Homer Simpson’s wife, Marge Simpson is set to appear on the cover of November’s issue of Playboy. This is a historic moment in that she will be the first cartoon character to grace the cover.

Marge Simpson, PlayboyAs reported on CBC.ca:

Marge isn’t going to bare all, though, as the magazine says, there will be “implied nudity” in the three-page pictorial. New Playboy chief executive Scott Flanders said the idea is to attract readers in their 20s to a magazine where the average reader’s age is 35.

Playboy chief executive Scott Flanders? Seriously? I’ll bet old Ned put him up to it.
