    Well, I’m back . . .
It’s the holiday season with the people bustling about trying . . . . hey, it’s not the holiday season, It’s the Christmas Season that’s here and if I hear one more person, no matter what religious faith they claim to be associated with, wish me Happy Holidays I think I’ll lose it and shove a BIG Ho Ho Ho right up their, you know. Why is it that other faiths can proudly proclaim their religious holidays with fervor and we (the meek of the Christian faith) have to make it so politically correct that the Saviour himself wouldn’t know what day it was if He, in fact, chose to make an official visit around this time of year. The whole idea of trying to be correct as not to offend anyone is in my opinion the last straw and I will, better still, I REFUSE to become party to the whole goings on. It has nothing to do with offending but more with proclaiming that what we we believe to be true, what we’ve been taught to be just and wholesome, that we should strive to be more like Him and treat the rest of mankind (oops . . .there’s another slip) as we would like to be treated. Now I know that christianity has had it’s fair share of upheavals from time to time, starting with the cruxifiction, the crusades and the onslught of the tele-vangalists that has set up shop on every channel possible each and every Sunday. We seem to be letting the politically correct do as they please with regards to what we were taught to hold dear. And it’s not just Christmas anymore. It’s non-gender, non affiliation, non nothing head will soon be rising to other aspects of the venacular to include Easter, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, dear we say Hallowe’en (dressing up as Cowboys, stereotyping and Indians, racism). Happy holidays makes me puke. And when you hear it said with no more conviction than “would you like fries with that, I feel like reaching across the counter and screaming, keep the fries and the field it was grown on. Now I mean that in a nice way of course, not meaning to offend the potato producers of this or any other region in the country. Happy Holidays my Arse! When you really think about it the happiest thing about holiday shopping is not shopping at all. Imagine how grateful you’d be if you weren’t socially cornered each and every year to drag yourself to the closest or biggest retail outlet with the false hope of finding the perfect gift for most of the people on your list you would just prefer to forget altogether. Do the aunts and uncles from christmas past really need that pound cake you’re sending or would you be better off sending out a giant email stating that you’re skipping the happy holiday season. Now I’m all for keeping the Christmas Season. A time for getting together for family and friends, reflection on why we are here anyway, and yes, giving thanks for the reason why the celebration is happening in the first place. Ahhh. . . . where was I?
