Well, da wife and I went and got our H1N1 shots tonight. It was a relatively painless exercise. We arrived at 5:45 for a six o’clock clinic. The line up had been gathering since before five so needless to say there were plenty of people there. I’m guessing three or four hundred people in front of us. The doors opened at six and we were done by 6:45. After we waited the required 15 minutes, we were on our way. Not too shabby. The people in line around us were friendly, the workers were pleasant, and the time moved quickly.
So what’s everyone complaining about?

A little prick is always something one can complain about.

I think it was the 5 hour wait with small childrens in the freezing cold that people were more upset with. Then they get to the front of the line and are turned away cause they forgot their ugly kid’s identification papers, identifying it as a kid and not an illegal immigrant trying to steal all our H1N1s.

Funny… cuz last night I didn’t have to show any ID at all. I just filled out the form… I could have put anything I wanted on there.

My mother-in-law, or the person I call my mother-in-law, had to wait in line for 5 hours for her shot about a week before I got mine. I wouldn’t have bothered with it if I had to wait 5 hours. Anything more than an hour would be pushing it for me.
From the time I got in and left after my 15-minute wait, it wasn’t much more than 30 minutes. I was asked to bring my MCP card, but forgot. It didn’t matter. When I gave them my name, it popped up on their computer and they told me my old address. I corrected the address and they let me in.
Socialized medicine is awesome!
