I’ve been having issues with my back lately and they’ve been getting worse.
Occasionally, when I’m bent, I stay bent; when I’m standing straight, I have a hard time sitting down. It’s been getting worse and more frequent, to the point where I feared I had a hernia.
So, I went to the doctor and she sent me for a CAT scan. I’d like to digress here for a moment… when I showed up for the appointment, they couldn’t find my name. I was actually scheduled to have the scan done the previous day! Seems my mind is going as well. Anyhooo, they got me in and out in less than 20 minutes, without an appointment. Awesome!
I returned to my doctor today for the results of my scan.
Well, Steve. We got the results. There’s no sign of cancer or hernia or anything like that, so you are very healthy in that concern. We did however discover a slight herniated disk between L5 and S1. You see, the vertebrae in your back are numbered ..blah blah blah… Now, it’s only a minor issue and doesn’t look like it was caused by an injury, really. It’s quite common for someone your age to experience some degeneration resulting in this condition.
In other words: I’m getting old. She recommended losing some weight, getting more exercise to strengthen my core, and perhaps even a chiropractor.
Exercise? Sigh. Oh well.
