Oh Me Power Windows!

Sep 04 2007

Almost a year ago (one week shy of a year actually) I had a problem with my 1992 Camry.  At that time, the power steering lines broke and while it was in the shop they told me it needed power steering lines, two rear struts and some other minor things.  That repair totaled $900.

Now, this morning I went to Tim Horton’s drive-thru for a coffee;  I pressed the button to put my window down but when I pressed it again to put the window up…. nothing.  Besides the giggling of my two teenage passengers, I could hear a buzzing/humming like the window was going up, but no actual window showing up between me and the outside world.  Shit.

The car is due for an inspection too.  I suspect I have problems with my radiator, CV joints, and a strut mount.  Oh, maybe the handbrake too.  Add the window thing to the mix and I’ll bet I’m gonna run up an decent tally again this year.  Shit.  Shit!

I’m going to try to fix the window myself tonight.   I think the glass just fell off a track or something.  (Unless it fell out through the bottom of the door and it’s sitting in the drive-thru at Tim Hortons….)

Grrr…

I’m Number 1!

Sep 04 2007

At least when it comes to smartass remarks.

There’s a number of blogs that I read daily through my Google Reader. Some are friends’ blogs, some are news feeds, some are from fellow true Newfoundlanders ranting & roaring. Some I read just because they write about blogging and the interweb and they occasionally strike onto something that I find interesting or inspirational. I’ll list them all in a posting some day, but I’ll mention How To Change The World right now. The author, Guy Kawasaki has had quite a career including authoring books, working at Apple and running several companies as well as writing the blog How To Change The World.

To celebrate his 53rd birthday, Guy wrote a post called You Know You’re Old When: and he started his list, encouraging others to add to it. I offered my two cents. The next day, he posted an audio clip of him reading The Best Of “You Know You’re Old When:” and guess who’s comment was number one! That’s right, yours truly was the smartass of the day! Give it a listen and hear him chuckle at the end! He actually thought that maybe the comment came from Steve Wozniak or Steve Jobs!

Thanks, Guy! Keep up the good work!
