Good point, Ward. As a consumer, it's not really my job to make the business profitable. It's my job to seek out and enjoy the lowest prices for the best service. CanJet made a loyal (and more frequent) customer out of my and my family, due to their low fares and great service.

Nowhere in my post did I criticize them, though. I do understand the challenge in providing this kind of value. In fact, I praise their decency in offering fair warning to those they were about to inconvenience.

Thanks for the comment. I checked out <a href="http://venisontickle.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow">your site</a>. Like it.

HI there,
Just discovered your blog and read this post on Canjet...or as the industry title goes, "Can't Jet".

Your remarks on Canjet neglect to mention (but do imply, I'l give you that) just how unrealistic their business model really was.

If you think operasting in thinkly populated regions with low load factors, low fares and fuel-guzzling old 737-500s is a good mix, the how about
10¢ per liter gasoline
$2 case beer
$1 per pound Prime Rib
$25,000 homes in metro areas
1% financing

Same things.

Cheers,

Ward

I think at one point moncton had a direct flight to st. john's via both canjet and westjet, then westjet stopped. Maybe they'll start again cause hey, no competition means they can gouge your ass for lots of ass money.

I liked the classy way in which you linked back to your own site. Smooth!
