Did I hit my head?

Tags: Steve @ 9:56 am

Ouch! …and double ouch!!

I was stuck for words. Twice in one conversation. I’m not usually left without something to say. A quip or a zinger is always on the tip of my tongue. Sometimes I surprise myself! But my wife got me good yesterday, twice. (Did I tell you yet that she got me twice?)

We left Costco yesterday with a basket of goodies preparing for a BBQ tonight. Wifey usually offers to help me load the stuff in the trunk and I usually refuse her assistance. “That’s ok, Honey. I can handle it.” Yesterday was different. She didn’t offer. When I got back in the car, the conversation went like this:

Me: You usually offer to help. I could have used it this time. It’s windy out there today and the trunk lid blew down and hit me twice.
Wife: Is that what happened to your head?
Me: It didn’t hit my head. It hit my arm and back.
Wife: Then what happened to your head?
Me: tb_blink
Semi-long pause…

Me: You’re funny.
Wife: I wasn’t trying to be.
Me: tb_surrender:

I changed the subject.

My wife pinched her Psychotic Nerve

Tags: , Steve @ 9:33 am
Sciatic Nerve

“The sciatic nerve is located in the back of the leg. It supplies the muscles of the back of the knee and lower leg. The sciatic nerve also provides sensation to the back of the thigh, part of the lower leg, and the sole of the foot. Partial damage to the nerve may demonstrate weakness of knee flexion (bending), weakness of foot movements, difficulty bending the foot inward (inversion), or bending the foot down (plantar flexion). A person’s reflexes may be abnormal, with weak or absent ankle-jerk reflex. Several different tests can be performed to find the cause of sciatic nerve dysfunction.”

My wife fell off the bottom step of a step ladder and damaged her sciatic nerve, according to our new chiropractor. (She fell, really tb_innocent )

Conversation:

Wife: Why did I have to go and pinch my psychotic nerve?
Me: Psychotic nerve… that’s funny. You are starting to get my sense of humour.
Wife: You have a sense of humour?

I love my wife. Get better soon honey!

Codco on DVD - Sign the Petition

Tags: Steve @ 11:37 pm

Codco and the Wonderful Grand Band are significant memories of entertainment from my youth. This Hour Has 22 Minutes alumni Cathy Jones and Mary Walsh are both among the founding members of Codco.

Codco Cast

With $300, a church annex, and the comedic talents of Tommy Sexton, Diane Olsen, Greg Malone, Mary Walsh, Cathy Jones and Paul Sametz, Cod on a Stick premiered in Toronto in 1973 and Canadian comedy would never be the same. The successful and newly- formed Codco (Cod Company) brought Cod on a Stick “back home” to Newfoundland audiences and a legacy was born which continues to resonate today.

These guys were hilarious! There are a lot of classic moments, and even some Newfoundlanders missed out. It’s too bad that this piece of Canadian and Newfoundland history is not available for purchase today. But you can help change that! ;-) Why not sign this petition to help make these classics available to all?
